So, You Think You Know Vitamin C? ...

Ascorbic Acid, aka Vitamin C, was labeled a vitamin at the time of its discovery because very little about this nutrient was known to the medical and nutritional community - except that a very small dose could reverse the unmistakable signs of Scurvy. Scurvy is not the beginning of the problem, but the pre-mortal symptoms of a dying individual.

The depletion of vitamin C leads to the inability of the body to produce collagen. (Collagen is to the human body what mortar is to bricks - no mortar and the brick wall will fall apart - no collagen and the body will fall apart.) Prior to collagen being fully depleted, all of the stores and concentration of vitamin C from the immune system and vital organs will be drained, making the individual susceptible to infections and disease. By this time, the body will bruise and bleed just from being touched, be infected in the lungs, or have whole body sepsis. Death is very near.

A small pinch of vitamin C will activate the collagen production to help save the body from deteriorating, but will not restore full heath until all concentrations of vitamin C are replaced in much larger quantities. The literature is overflowing with irrefutable evidence that vitamin C is the single most essential nutrient for achieving and maintaining optimal health, and also the premier agent for preventing and treating a large number of the most common infectious diseases.

Practically all animals make their own ascorbic acid internally, similar to the way we produce saliva. These animals produce approximately 3 grams a day when they're healthy, and much more when they are stressed or injured. The only animals that do not produce their own vitamin C live very close to their vitamin C source, and eat rich vegetation all year round, except for humans. Unfortunately, humans get the equivalent of only 100mg of vitamin C from their daily diet, which can be as much as 30x less than other animals that make their own vitamin C naturally.

In order to get the full complement of vitamin C daily and be in the best of health, supplementation is essential. It is impossible for humans to get enough vitamin C from their diet alone. Humans need at least the same amounts of vitamin C that all other animals make. Ascorbic acid is completely safe at any dose, but small doses taken throughout the day is the best for absorption.

The primary purpose of vitamin C is to maintain homeostasis, (everything in balance and working smoothly).

Without adequate daily doses of vitamin C, humans will always be in a state of sub-clinical scurvy, meaning they are susceptible to infections and diseases. This state of affairs has been assumed to be normal, the way of life for us humans. It is not normal. The lack of this substance has been responsible for most deaths, sickness, and misery throughout human history. Always know, practically no one dies because they ran our of heart beats.

You need to become proactive about your health destiny by taking enough vitamin C in proper doses for maximum absorption. This is essential to keep your immune system functioning at its highest, and to help detoxify the drugs and chemicals we are subjected to every day. Everybody requires an Opti-Dose of vitamin C every day.
